| A local business is getting national recognition for its
innovative use of the internet.
Kids Kaper, a children's clothing company set up in 1998 by Katherine
Walker, of Woking, Surrey, has been chosen as a case study by the Department
of Trade and Industry.
The DTI has commissioned a video featuring Kids Kaper alongside a Saville
Row tie-maker and a manufacturer of tweed in the Scottish island of Harris, amongst other textile companies
who are utilising the internet.
The video is to form part of a DTI roadshow promoting the use of the
internet in the textile industry.
This week, Ms Walker has heard that the video is also being
distributed in a CD-ROM version attached to every copy of the fashion
trade magazine 'Drapers
Record' [16/03/2001 issue].
Ms Walker said "I am very pleased and excited. Everybody reads
the Drapers Record and it's fantastic publicity for me. I can't believe
that all this has happened so quickly. The website only went live in
October last year."
